Location and Overview. Altyn-Emel National Park is situated in the Almaty Region of Kazakhstan, approximately 150 kilometers northeast of the city of Almaty. It covers an area of over 4,600 square kilometers and is one of the largest national parks in Kazakhstan.

Scenic Landscapes. The park is characterized by a variety of landscapes, including vast steppes, desert plains, sand dunes, rocky canyons, and snow-capped mountains. Visitors can explore the park’s diverse terrain and marvel at its stunning natural beauty.

Singing Dunes (Barkhan). One of the most famous attractions in Altyn-Emel National Park is the Singing Dunes, also known as Barkhan. It makes singing noices when you go on the top of it under some weather conditions.

Katutau and Aktau Mountains. The park is home to two distinct mountain ranges, the Katutau Mountains and the Aktau Mountains, which feature unique geological formations and colorful rock formations.
